Rushcliffe Neighbourhood Policing update
On Friday evening officers responded to reports of nuisance illegal off road motorcycles and also car cruising around the borough and wider Nottingham and Nottinghamshire areas.
Special Constables attached to Operational Support attended car cruising reported by members of the public concerned about street racing, dangerous and anti-social driving in Bramcote, Sneinton and Clifton. In the Daleside Road area of Sneinton they were joined by City South Neighbourhood Policing officers who seized a car using powers under s59 of the Police reform Act due to driving offences committed breaching a warning issued last summer as part of Operation Wheelspin. These notices are valid for 12 months from the point of issue and if they are breached a further twelve months from each breach.
Rushcliffe officers attended Edwalton and Saxondale to prevent dangerous driving and noise nuisance from this kind of anti-social driving. Through our work with Operation Wheelspin officers know that the groups will move to other locations in rotation until enforcement action is taken. By placing both marked and unmarked vehicles at key locations it allows officers to prevent groups stopping or to catch offenders enabling warnings and enforcement action such as traffic offence report forms or summons to be issued.
If you would like to join the Nottinghamshire Special Constabulary recruitment for an intake starting later this year is open until the 19th of April 2026.
While on patrol on Saturday evening Rushcliffe Neighbourhood Policing Team officers attended East Bridgford where a stolen campervan had been traced following it being stolen from Lincolnshire earlier this week. The Campervan has been recovered for examination by Crime Scene Investigators.
Officers from the team spoke to the Police and Crime Commissioner and the Chief Constable on Wednesday during their visit to Bingham. These kind of interactions give frontline officers a chance to speak to senior leaders about the issues discussed when we attend Town and Parish Council meetings, beat surgeries and partner agency meetings that have a direct effect on businesses and residents in the borough.
