I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Violent crime, which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey. On 24th October 2025, Gedling Neighbourhood Policing Team communicated a media release about the murder in Mapperley on Tuesday 21st October 2025.
There has been a further development in this investigation and would like to share this information as follows:
“Nottingham man charged with murder following death of 23-year-old Steph Irons in Mapperley
Adedapo Adegbola, 40, will appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court
A man has been charged with murder following an investigation into the death of 23-year-old Stephanie Irons
Adedapo Adegbola, 40, of Woodborough Road, Mapperley, has been charged with one count of murder following Stephanie’s body being discovered on Tuesday (October 21).
Following concerns for a woman’s safety, police were called to an address in Westdale Lane West, Mapperley, at 10.07pm on Tuesday.
Detectives launched a murder investigation after 23-year-old Stephanie – known as Steph to her friends and family - was found dead by emergency services.
The 23-year-old studied at Nottingham Trent University and had ambitions to be a psychologist
Police say it is believed the victim and suspect were known to each other.
Adegbola has now been charged with Stephanie’s murder and he will be appearing at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Saturday (October 25).
A 40-year-old woman was arrested on Thursday (October 23) on suspicion of assisting an offender and has been released with strict bail conditions.
Detective Inspector Stuart Barson, senior investigating officer, said: “This is a truly tragic incident, and our thoughts remain with Steph’s family and friends, who have asked for privacy at what must be an extremely difficult time.
“Specially trained officers are providing them with support and this will continue throughout the investigation process.
“Our team of investigators have worked extremely hard over the past few days to determine the full circumstances of what happened, and I am pleased we have now been able to charge a suspect in this case.
"I would also like to thank the local community for their patience and support over the last few days which has enabled us to progress the investigation.

I know this has been a very tragic incident, but it also has been an opportunity for the community to come togeather and support one another. The police are also grateful for the continued support by members of the public and the local community.
