Officers from Mansfield South Neighbourhood Policing Team and the Forcewide Off Road Bike Team conducted proactive patrols this weekend with regards to illegal off road bike use in Mansfield.
This is in response to reports from members of the public regarding repeated issues with off road bikes and forms part of our response to one of our neighbourhood policing priorities - vehicle related ASB.
A proactive off-road motorcycle operation was conducted across Mansfield, via “The Desert” fire roads and Eakring Road, Sherwood Pines and camp site as well as Warsop Pit Tip and Garibaldi Woods and Nature Ponds to engage with the public, deter illegal riding, and enforce legislation where necessary.
Officers responded swiftly to a live incident at The Desert, resulting in the removal of 1 x motorcycle and the issuance of a Section 59 warning. Officers removed a further two motorcycles from Warsop Pit Tip and issued section 59 warnings also.
A section 59 warning is issued when vehicles are found to have been used to cause distress, alarm, or annoyance. Under the Police Reform Act 2002, a constable can seize a vehicle if it has been used in a manner that amounts to driving without due care and attention or inconsiderate driving.
