Arrests for breaches of Stalking Prevention Orders

Amongst the responsibilities of Mansfield Neighbourhood Policing team is the monitoring of persons in the area who have been issued Stalking Prevention Orders.

The orders, which are applied for by the police and made by a Magistrates' Court, are unique to each case and can prohibit an offender from contacting a victim or visiting a particular place. It is a criminal offence to breach an SPO or fail to comply with the requirements and carries a maximum sentence of five years imprisonment.

Following proactive enquiries, officers yesterday arrested two males (not connected) for breaches of their Stalking Prevention Orders. These males were interviewed and the cases put to the Crown Prosecution Service. In both cases charges were authorised as well as the remand of the males for court this morning.
