Shed/Garage break-ins

Suggested subject line: Shed/Garage break-ins

We are investigating a number of garage/shed break-ins in the South of the Broxtowe Borough area.

We are keen to make the general public aware of this and to hear from you if you see anything suspicious.

Please contact Nottinghamshire Police on 101 to report. Alternatively you can report online in the report section of Home | Nottinghamshire Police

You can also pass on information anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Please take the time to read the garage/shed crime prevention advice below:

Garage break

  • If you have a burglar alarm at home, ensure it extends to cover the garage too.
  • Add external lighting to cover the garage door.
  • If your garage has windows, keep these closed and locked
  • Additional mortice locks can be added to ‘up and over’ garage doors to improve security
  • If you are considering replacing your existing garage door for a higher security door, check out the list of police approved suppliers here: Secured by Design
  • Shed break

  • Sheds are often broken into by burglars who will steal tools to use to break into your house. Keep your shed locked and obscure any windows with window film, paint, or net curtains.
  • If possible, choose to store expensive items such as lawn mowers, hedge cutters, bikes and tools more securely in a garage.
  • Further security tips can be found on Crime prevention advice | Nottinghamshire Police  and on the Neighbourhood Watch website.
