Vehicle Security

Before January 2025 has seen its end, so far this month has experienced an 83.3% increase of theft of motor vehicles from December 2024 across the City West Areas from 12 to 22 thefts. With a direct comparison to January 2023 Nottinghamshire Police has also noticed a 22% increase in theft from motor vehicles with in the City west, including areas like Denewood, Broxtowe, Strelley, Aspley, Wollaton and Basford etc.

Recent occurrences:

- 21/01/2024 Between 02:00 -04:00am a works van was broken into on Calveley Road, Nottingham where the suspect managed to steal items from inside.

- 24/01/2025 a vehicle was stolen from a personal driveway on Beckley Road, Nottingham by unknown means.

We want to remind everyone how important it is to consider the safety of your personal belongings/vehicles and to prompt yourselves to always consider the below:

1) Where are you parking your vehicle? - Is there lighting or CCTV with in the area?

2) "Target Hardening" Is there a possibility for you to install a DASH Camera and apply a steering lock?

3) Upon leaving your vehicle are the doors actually locked? Check your door handles before leaving your vehicle unattended.

4) Is your vehicle safe to be left open with keys in the ignition even if you are just quickly delivering a parcel to an address or collecting belongings from your home.

5) Are valuable or personal items being left on show when leaving your vehicle unattended? Or are your items safer to be stored with in the house rather than in the vehicle overnight; especially if they are expensive and valuable?

“Remove the means of access and reduce the reward for offenders. Convenience is not always best.”
