Hello from the Broxtowe borough neighbourhood policing team inspector.
This month I attended the community safety briefing with Broxtowe borough councillors and council representatives. I presented updates in relation to crime, anti-social behaviour and ongoing policing operations. I answered concerns raised by the councillors and explained how problem-solving plans were in place to address the issues in the area.
For the final quarter of the year, we have reviewed and discussed in our monthly multi-agency meeting the current priorities:
1. Theft of motorbikes and shop thefts have decreased in November with several arrests and positive action on criminal behaviour orders. This priority will be closed at the end of December.
2. Vehicle anti-social behaviour including car cruising. Operation Wheelspin has been conducted on five occasions since November where traffic offence reports and Section 59 notices were issued to drivers and vehicles. During the recent operations there has been a reduction of vehicles in the area causing anti-social behaviour. Therefore, this will no longer be a priority for the Broxtowe neighbourhood policing area. However, this will continue be to run locally by the neighbourhood policing team as part of the forcewide Operation Wheelspin.
3. Anti-social behaviour in Eastwood and Kimberley has seen an improvement, with a reduction in reported anti-social behaviour incidents. Police have been completing high visibility patrols and engaging with the community. This priority will continue into the next quarter as residents and partners have continued to raise their concerns around anti-social behaviour in the Eastwood south area. Police are working with Broxtowe Borough Council and youth intervention to assist with the patrol plan.
New policing priorities for Broxtowe will be decided in January. In the meantime our work as a neighbourhood policing team is ongoing to keep people safe and tackle crime. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support this year. From myself and the neighbourhood policing team Happy Christmas and New Year.
Thank you
