A prolific shoplifter was banned from entering or loitering near a number of shops and businesses in Clifton. 

Joseph Michael Ke O'loughlin admitted 7 shop thefts when he appeared at Nottingham Magistrates Court in December and was sentence to 20 weeks in jail. 

Officers from Clifton neighborhood policing team have now successfully applied for a criminal behaviour order ( CBO) against the 39 - year - old - to allow swift and robust action if he repeats his criminal behaviour. 

Under the term of the order, O'loughlin, of Hightbank Drive, is now banned from to enter Clifton Triangle, Co- Op on Southchurch drive, Co -Op on Farnborough Rd,  Co-Op on Wilford Lane. 

He has also been ordered to stay away from Southchurch Drive Shops except his pharmacy. 

Police Constable Jane Gibson, from Clifton neighborhood policing team said: O'loughlin was repeatedly warned to about his behaviour in the Clifton area. 

" The CBO gives us the power of arrest if  O'loughlin  breaches this order and will hopefully serve as a deterrent to him and give residents and businesses some respite. 

We will not tolerate this sort of behaviour and will take action against offenders where required. 

The order, granted at Nottingham Magistrates Court on 14 June, covers a period of three years and will allow police to arrest  O'loughlin and put him before the courts for any breach. 

Inspector Steve Dalby, district commander for City South, said: “ The granting of this order has taken a lot of hard work from local neighborhood policing team and Nottingham City Council's community protection team”. 

“ I'd like to thank PC Gibson and other members of the team for their painstaking efforts, which I'm hopeful will make these areas of Clifton safer and more pleasant places for people to live, work and shop in".
