Drink/drug drive campaign

RUSHCLIFFE DRINK AND DRUG DRIVE OPERATION

On 06/12/2024 officers from Rushcliffe Neighbourhood team were out and about conducting random vehicle stops with the run up to Christmas upon us and lots of people out celebrating with nights out the local team wanted to raise awareness in relation to drink/drug driving and the associated dangers.
These were done in the villages of East Leake and Cotgrave these are random stops and, in the time, officers were out over 50 cars were stopped.

Five drivers were found to have consumed some alcohol prior to driving so words of advice were had regarding this and some were shocked by this after only consuming one drink.

One male was arrested for failing to stop for police and driving whilst over the prescribed limit when he failed a roadside breath procedure. His vehicle was seized, and he was later charged with the offences and will be attending court in January.
Nottinghamshire Police are running a drink/drug campaign in the run up to Christmas and part of this they are holding several roadshows to reach a number of towns in the force area –with prominent locations chosen following analysis of fatal and serious injury collision data where drink or drugs was a contributory factor.

The next roadshow is set to be held Friday 13 December – Worksop
Further events will be held on the following dates, running from 5pm to 7pm.
Saturday 21 December - Newark
Friday 27 December - West Bridgford
Saturday 4 January – Retford

Alongside the force’s educational engagement activity in collision hotspot areas, our roads policing officers and Neighbourhood officers will continue to proactively patrol our roads in the run-up to Christmas and over the festive period to keep people safe and take robust action against drink and drug drivers.
