Reporting Anti-Social Behaviour

Following community feedback with regards to reporting of Anti-Social Behaviour, I wanted to take this opportunity to provide the best way in which to make sure the matter you are reporting gets dealt with efficiently by the most appropriate agency to do so.

Anti-Social Behaviour can come in a wide range of forms. Antisocial behaviour is any behaviour that causes or is likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress or damages quality of life. It is important that if you see or experience any ASB, you report it to the appropriate authority.

We work together with Mansfield District Council and many other agencies to tackle ASB but we cannot take action if we are not aware – please don’t assume someone else will report the issue and, even if they do, it is important that we understand the extent of the issue and those affected in order to be able to take the appropriate action.

  • Call 999 – If life is threatened, someone is injured or there is a crime in progress
  • Call 101, report to Nottinghamshire Police online if an offence has happened and the offender is no longer at the scene
  • Call 101, report online or contact the Mansfield Neighbourhood Policing Team (by going to www.nottinghamshire.police.uk and typing in your street or post code) or at your local Beat Surgery if you wish to report on-going issues or concerns in your local community.
  • You can also report ASB to Mansfield District Council, either by calling 01623 463 463, emailing mdc@mansfield.gov.uk or via the ‘Report It’ mechanisms on their website – www.mansfield.gov.uk/report, which also allows for anonymous reporting. Mansfield District Council are the most appropriate agency to report the following matters:

  • Noise Nuisance - www.mansfield.gov.uk/pollution/noise-nuisance. You can also download the Noise App which allows you to record noise nuisance and keep a diary with regards to incidents.
  • Fly-tipping - www.mansfield.gov.uk/environmental-issues/report-fly-tipping-vehicle-1
  • Abandoned Vehicles - www.mansfield.gov.uk/environmental-issues/report-abandoned-vehicle-1
  • Environmental Health Issues – www.mansfield.gov.uk/environmental-issues
  • Dog Nuisance – www.mansfield.gov.uk/dog-ownership/dog-nuisance
  •

You can also get in contact with your local Councillor. You can find their details at www.mansfield.gov.uk/councillors

You can report an untaxed vehicle to the DVLA – www.contact.dvla.gov.uk/report-untaxed-vehicle

You can provide information regarding crime anonymously via Crimestoppers, either by calling 0800 555 111 or via their website – www.crimestoppers-uk.org.

If you are reporting ASB issues with neighbours in a Housing Association property, you can report the issues directly to the Housing Association.

Our website provides further information regarding the best places to report different types of anti-social behaviour to receive the best response - www.nottinghamshire.police.uk/advice/advice-and-information/asb/asb/antisocial-behaviour/ and also allows the reporting of anti-social behaviour online - www.nottinghamshire.police.uk/ro/report/asb/asb-v3/report-antisocial-behaviour/.
